08H30 – 18H00
This lovely tour starts from the CBD passing through the upmarket suburbs of Bantry Bay, Clifton, Camps Bay and Bakoven viewing the beaches where the beautiful bodies and the who’s who of Cape Town hang out. From Bantry Bay we take to the twisty Victoria Road heading to Hout Bay. Depending on conditions we either go over Chapman’s Peak or Constantia Nek. Should we go over Chapman’s Peak, we follow the Atlantic coastline all the way to the tip of the Cape Peninsula passing through the small villages of Kommetjie (stopping at the lighthouse if possible), Misty Cliffs and Scarborough.
Once we get to Cape Point, we follow the road to the lighthouse. Here you can walk up to the old lighthouse or take the funicular (and also to the new lighthouse at the tip of the peninsula – if time allows). For those with more energy there is the option of a walk to Cape of Good Hope passing the secluded Diaz Beach on the way. Your guide will meet you at Cape of Good Hope. Before leaving the park we can stop at one or two of the beaches off the main road while also looking for some of the game found in the reserve: Eland, Bontebok, Zebra, Baboon, Ostrich and Red Hartebeest.
After leaving the reserve behind, we head for the Boulders Penguin Colony to see the African Penguin, take a stroll through Kalk Bay stopping at Olympia Café, over Boyes Drive for a scenic view of Muizenberg and False Bay. Our last scheduled stop is Kirstenbosch Botanical Gardens where you can either wander around the gardens for about 90 minutes or take the optional extra one hour guided golf cart tour with a site guide.
Once leaving the gardens we follow the road back to Cape Town passing the University of Cape Town and Groote Schuur Hospital before arriving back in the city in the late afternoon.
The Tour can be done in the opposite direction if so desired.
